Minigrants at Work in Northwest Michigan

Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Network is the Region 2 Partner for Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affair’s Regional Regrant program, serving the ten counties of Northwest Michigan – Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee & Wexford counties. There are 10 Regional Regrant districts in Michigan.

Minigrant Arts Projects support a range of projects in schools, communities and organizations – ranging from enrichment programs for children to public art installations, civic theatre to open air community concerts, historical displays to new works by authors, musicians and filmmakers. The scope is vast as are the creative talents who bring them to life and the community residents of all ages who benefit.

Professional and Organizational Minigrants help artists, arts educators, administers and organizations build skills and capacity through training, conferences, consultants and learning opportunities. Minigrants for Schools help fund bus trips for arts and cultural experiences like museum visits or theatrical performances, as well as art supplies and equipment used in classrooms.

During the past year (FY21), the Network awarded $55,480 in MCACA minigrant awards to 23 grantees. See the spotlights below for an example of our Minigrants at work throughout Northwest Michigan.
