Sleighbell at the Ramsdell
The Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts (RRCA) is proud to organize another eventful weekend for visitors at the Ramsdell during the 33rd annual Victorian Sleighbell Parade and Old Christmas Weekend.
The RRCA will offer a variety of events inside the Ramsdell, including the Lakeside Club’s Festival of Trees and Holiday Décor. This year, the two organizations selected to receive the entry fee proceeds are The Lakeshore Children’s Advocacy Center and the Manistee Friendship Society. “Lakeside Club is very excited about this year’s Festival of Trees & Holiday Decor. The community has once again stepped up, and we have a great lineup of creative, beautiful trees that will be up for auction, along with other Holiday decor items. Don’t forget to bring your canned goods to vote for the People’s Choice Award. You could win a gift certificate if you bring a toy for Toys for Tots or a gift for Gifts for Teens. Come enjoy this great community event while supporting great non-profit organizations!” added Deb Green, President of Lakeside Club.
In partnership with the West Shore Community College Performing Arts Series, the RRCA presents “A WSCC Holiday Rock Spectacular Reunion.” The two events on December 3 and 4 (8pm and 2pm, respectively) will feature over 20 different musicians on stage, including Edgard Struble, Lou Musa from the Verve Pipe, Craig Avery, Kevin Depree from the popular Grand Rapids-based band Brenna, along with special guests from Groove 101 and the WSCC Drumline. “We premiered this show at the Radian Church in Ludington in December 2021 and cannot wait to reunite this group at the Ramsdell on December 3 and 4. I have been able to perform music professionally with each musician on stage. It will be a homecoming for sure,” added Ted Malt, Professor of Music and Director of the Performing Arts Series at West Shore Community College.
Other events include 30-minute historical tours, an art exhibit featuring 6×6 canvases painted by our local community of artists, a period-theme party hosted by the Lakeside Club, and the Chamber of Commerce’s UnTapped event on Thursday, December 1. Following the Sleighbell festivities, patrons can enjoy the Manistee Civic Players’ presentation of Oliver the musical. This show features a cast of almost 50 people. With spirited, timeless songs like “As Long as He Needs Me,” “Food, Glorious Food,” and “Where Is Love,” Oliver! is a musical classic. More info at www.RamsdellTheatre.org/Events
