Shipwreck Week | Nov. 7-11th
Join the Leelanau Historical Society Museum in honoring Leelanau’s maritime past with a week of themed trivia on Facebook with chances to win swag from the Museum Gift Shop. A free virtual program, and two free movies about shipwrecks & maritime history at the museum. Special additions to the Shipwrecks of the Manitou Passage Exhibit will be featured for the duration of the week. Exhibit Admission: General Public $5 | Kids Free | LHS Members Free.

Monday Nov. 7th – Facebook Trivia Begins! You’ll have 5 chances (one a day) to participate and test your knowledge and win LHS merch.
Tuesday Nov. 8th, 3:30pm – Film Screening of “The Wreck & Rescue of the schooner J.H. Hartzell”. Followed by a Q&A with the Director, Rich Brauer. (This is a free screening – movie snacks and comfy seats will be made available)
Wednesday Nov. 9th, 7:00pm – “November Gales” Virtual Program by Ric Mixter. He shares not only insight and rare survivor interviews from autumn gales, but also first hand accounts of dives to freighters lost to the winds. This event is live and will not be recorded. Thursday Nov. 10th, 3:30pm – Documentary Screening of “Storm Warriors Heroes of the Shipwreck Coast”. Chronicles stories and events along the southeastern stretch of Lake Superior shore where men & women of the U.S. Life Saving Service were on constant watch from the late 1800’s to the 1940’s, their deeds largely unheralded and many of their stories lost. (This is a free screening – movie snacks and comfy seats will be made available)
