MCACA Grant Announcements Friday

Council Meets 10/22, 1pm – Log-in & Links

Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs will meet to approve and announce its FY22 grant awards on Friday, 10/22, beginning at 1pm via Zoom. Once council members have approved the proposed funding plan, MCACA will post a link to MCACA website (links will be located at the bottom of the home page) which will list grant awards by program and by county.  This link will be live within 2 hours of the close of the council meeting that day, as well as posted in the chat during the meeting. Those organizations awarded an FY22 grant will also receive a formal contract emailed to them via the SmartSimple system after the council meeting.

Fresh Coast Quarterly with Boardman Review

Join us for the next Fresh Coast Quarterly Club on Thursday, October 21, from 5-7pm at The Hagerty Garage, 2830 Aero Park Drive, TC MI 49686, with featured speakers: Nick & Chris Loud | Co-Founders, The Boardman Review.Each Fresh Coast Quarterly Club showcases an entrepreneur who has made Traverse City their home, and who has brought with them exciting new ideas, interests, inspirations, and innovations. Dennos NW MI Juried Show

The 2022 Northwestern Michigan Juried Show is now open for submissions. Held regularly at the Dennos Museum Center for 30 years, the exhibition features art made by regional artists over the last year and juried by an arts professional outside of the region. Call for Northern Michigan Artists

Charlevoix Circle mARkeT is a festive, handmade, shopping experience launched by our Community Appreciation Celebration.  With over 40 local artists and makers featured, we have curated a magnificent selection of unique gifts and treats. Call for artists underway, deadline is 11/7.   Info here.

Calling Emerging Artists

Crooked Tree Arts Center is pleased to present the Merry Marketplace, held indoors at Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City, Michigan, December 2021. An art fair, holiday celebration, and all kinds of fun – CTAC-TC will be transformed into a holiday shopping market with artists’ booths, holiday art workshops and more. Emerging Artists will participate on Saturday, 12/4, 11 or 18.  Set up and take down will be same day of event. New Community Partners Grants

Deadline is 11/1 at 5pm for the new MCACA & Arts Midwest Community Partners Grant program. 
program, designed to strengthen communities by encouraging them to work collaboratively with artists and culture bearers to explore local issues, where collaborative art-making is integral to daily lives and is valued as a tool for community development. Grants from $10,000 to $20,000 are available. Funding period is January 1-June 15, 2022. See grant guidelines here. Workshop for info available 10/29 at 10am. Join meeting here

Artisan Call for Christmas in the Village

Applications are being accepted for Northport Art Association’s Christmas in the Village, opening 11/27. Deadline 11/1. Information and application available here.

CTAC-TC Seeks Development Manager

The Regional Development Manager will collaborate with CTAC staff and leadership to establish fundraising and membership goals, and works to achieve them through soliciting corporate sponsorships, private donors, foundation support, and other community resources.  This is a full-time, in-person, salaried position (with benefits) that is grant funded for one year. Oliver Art Center Member Show 

Entries are being accepted for the annual Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Winter Member Exhibition, running 12/10/2021 – 1/14/2022. Must be an Oliver Arts member. Info and entry form here

Midwest Artists Call for Biennual

CALL FOR ENTRIES! The thirteenth in a series of competitions produced by The Dairy Barn Arts Center, OH+5 is a regional, all-media, juried exhibition of contemporary artwork. This exhibition serves to promote artists residing in Ohio plus the five bordering states: Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Find complete details here.
 

Paperwork Artist Submissions Due 12/1

Glen Arbor Arts Center will feature 2-D & 3-D works in its upcoming Paperwork exhibition about works on paper, and works made from paper. Running 1/14-3/24, it focuses on paper used in a wide array of applications. Info & application here.

The Intersection of Diversity, Employment, and Well-Being, 10/27

Join DataArts in partnership with Art Equity on 10/27, noon, for a conversation about diversity, psychological safety, the pandemic’s effect on unemployment among historically marginalized communities, and the stories that bring these issues to light. Resources will be made available to attendees who wish to learn more about how to implement meaningful change in workplace culture. Information & registration here
