Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra
GLCO presents Take to the Sky concert
Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra will present “Take to the Sky” on Saturday, April 23, at 7 p.m. at Great Lakes Center for the Arts, 800 Bay Harbor Dr., Petoskey. The concert’s theme centers on bird calls in classical music, as we celebrate the return of spring. The performance features world-renowned violinist Dmitri Berlinsky.
“Take to the Sky” will include works by Vaughn Williams, Ottorino Respighi, Einojuhani Rautavaara and Beethoven.
Rautavaara’s “Cantus Arcticus”, subtitled “concerto for birds and orchestra” uses taped birdsong throughout the lush musical performance. A pre-concert talk with Ondras will precede the concert at 6 p.m.
