Harbor Springs Festival of the Book

Harbor Springs Festival of the Book is a non-profit organization committed to inspiring readers of all ages and celebrating the culture of books in a most beautiful part of the world. Always held the last full weekend of September, we have grown from a conversation around a lunch table to a premier three-day event that attracts thousands each fall and that includes presentations by more than 50 authors and illustrators. Partnering with schools across Northern Michigan, our Authors in Schools program sends more than 20 children’s and young adult authors and illustrators into classrooms during the Festival. We also distribute thousands of free books to students who often have limited resources. We are proud to be a meaningful economic driver for the business community in Harbor Springs, particularly during a slower time of year when the Festival is held, in September. Most importantly, we welcome all to the Harbor Springs Festival of the Book, as the vast majority of events are free of charge. The impact of our work is broad and deep, creating memorable experiences for attendees and volunteers, for authors and illustrators, for students and parents, and for the local economy.
