In the early morning hours of March 29–30, 2025, a beloved 150–200-year-old, 70-foot-tall Basswood tree fell during a devastating ice storm. Located at Bier Art Gallery and Pottery Studio, just south of Charlevoix in Norwood Township, the tree was a natural landmark—towering, graceful, and deeply rooted in the community.
Charlevoix Circle of Arts invites artists to honor this fallen icon and the storm that changed the landscape through works of art. Artists may create pieces directly from the Basswood tree itself or works inspired by the March 2025 ice storm.

Here:Say Storytelling is a Traverse City-based live storytelling show featuring true, first-person stories told on stage by performers of all backgrounds and experience level. We accept pitches for both regular-season shows and the occasional popup shows we produce on behalf of other organizations.

PETOSKEY—The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) is one of five finalists being considered for two major grants to be awarded by Impact100 Little Traverse Bay.

Reader’s theatre is performance of the voice. The actors usually tell the story without the benefit of costumes, props, sets, movement or memorized lines. It became popular during and after World War II when people had limited resources to produce regular plays. Originally done by actors dressed in black sitting on stools, there are no rules.

Our Artist in Residence Program is a one month production residency where 8-10 artists are granted full access to our facilities and community to develop their practice. The selected artists are given unlimited scanning, an ink stipend, a personal studio with workstation and viewing wall, training and guidance by our staff, an organized public event to present their new work, and lifetime of additional lab perks. During their month at LATITUDE residents are asked to be mentors to the community, sharing their insights and creative methods.
