Position Description – Associate Director
Good Hart Artist Residency is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization located in Good Hart, Michigan. The mission of the Good Hart Artist Residency is to nurture artists, writers, and composers from various backgrounds and artistic disciplines and to connect them with the local community through enriching arts experiences set in the natural beauty of Northern Michigan.
The Artist Residency Associate Director will assist the Executive Director and Operations Director in managing the year-round artist residency program. This position is designed to mentor the successful candidate into the Executive Director role in 12-18 months, subject to board approval.
The duties of the full-time Associate Director include:
- Day-to-day operation of residency program
- Communication with and coordination of residents
- Development and implementation of community engagement events with area nonprofits and local schools
- Fundraising
- Development of volunteer base and management/supervision of volunteer participation and engagement in residency.
- Maintenance of website and social media accounts
- Marketing of program and events
- Management of open calls for artists and recruitment and coordination of jurors
- Research, development and administration of grants
- Budget and financial management in coordination with Board of Directors
- Management and/or supervision of part-time staff and contractors
- Participation in Board of Directors and Community Advisory meetings
The ideal candidate for this position will have a background in the arts and/or nonprofit administration as well as experience or interest in event planning, facilitation, and fundraising. Candidates should have the following skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Grant writing experience
- Event planning experience
- Proficiency with computers and online applications (Google Workspace, WordPress, Canva, Mailchimp, Quickbooks, Instagram, Facebook)
- Experience managing social media accounts
Work is primarily remote but the candidate must be able to attend regualar events in the Petoskey / Harbor Springs area and at the residency in Good Hart (25 minutes north of Harbor Springs). Some evening and weekend work is required for facilitation of events and meetings. Ideal candidates will reside in or near Emmet County.
Full time position – $44,000 – $47,000 per year depending on experience.
