With Love - Postcard Exhibit Open Call

Higher Art Gallery is excited to announce an Open Call for:

"With Love", A post Card Exhibit. 
This exhibit will be comprised of invited Artists and Artists who answer the open call. This is the first of what we hope will be an annual exhibit which will run during the holiday gift giving season in tandem with our Annual Art Tree Exhibit. (See more below on that). 

KEY DATES:

SUBMISSION DATES: August 1st- October 10th
DEADLINE: NOON on October 10th
DEADLINE TO RECIEVE ART: November 4th
Show Dates: November 16th- January 2nd

Criteria & Details:

Like most of our exhibits which run during the holiday season, we try to provide visitors the opportunity to collect works of Art which are small both in size and budget. This exhibit is no different. Postcard size Art is approachable and easy to gift to someone or collect for yourself. 

 

SIZE :  

~ALL WORK MUST BE 5" X 7".
Not up to that size, but actually 5" x 7".
The format can be vertical OR horizontal.

~SUBSTRATE:   The width can not be more then 1/16th of an inch
Actual postcards are preferred. Other acceptable options: gator board, Masonite, canvas panel, Yupo on a flat panel, illustration paper adhered to flat panel, metal, thin wood. 
Essentially anything which can have artwork adhered to it which is a flat, rigid surface and is not more than 1/16th of an inch.
NO gallery wrapped or cradled panels. 
The idea is that all the works are flat like a postcard.
DO NOT place any hanging hardware on the back. 

~Postcards can be altered but the overall height and length can not change from 5"x 7".
Artwork MAY extend from the front and OUT but NOT down or from the side. This exhibit is displayed in a grid style, thus the need for uniformity in size and shape. 

~ We encourage and welcome Artists to create work on both sides if they so choose. Or you may complete one side with writings, or sentiment, a poem, or a statement about the work. Anything you like. 

~ NO FRAMES, thank you.

~ Any type of Art  is welcome.
This includes but is not limited to: paintings, sketches, drawings, fiber, stitching, photo transfer, monotypes, wood block printing, Linocut prints, wood burning, assemblage.

OTHER DETAILS:

~ Artists may submit as many pieces as they would like to be considered. 
~ Each piece will be priced retail at $75. 
~ The Artist/ Gallery split is 50/50. 
~ Jpegs of images for consideration should be emailed to us at:  higherartgallery@gmail.com and please include (postcard show) in the subject line. 
~Artists will be notified of inclusion on a rolling basis.
