Crooked Tree Arts Center for a Plein Air (outdoor) Paint-Out - Call for Artists

INFO FOR ARTISTS: 

CHECK-IN, CANVAS STAMPING, & PREPARATION

  • No pre-registration is required, although a participation agreement must be completed on-site at CTAC - Petoskey at the time of canvas stamping.
  • All canvases and painting substrates must be pre-stamped at CTAC - Petoskey.
  • Stamping will take place at CTAC-Petoskey's front desk from Tuesday, July 22 to Wednesday, July 30, 2025, during gallery hours (Tuesday - Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM).
  • Canvases may be toned before stamping, but we respectfully ask you to not begin formally painting until Tuesday, July 22, after your canvas has been stamped. 
  • Maximum of 3 works artist may be submitted for the sale.


WHERE TO PAINT 

  • You may paint in any PUBLIC space in the Little Traverse Bay Region. Please do not access private properties, residences, or lawns (other than your own!).  


ARTWORK CHECK-IN 

  • Artists may submit up to three pieces. Completed and ready-to-hang artwork must be turned in at CTAC - Petoskey from 10 AM to Noon, on Thursday, July 31. Work may be turned in earlier in the week. 
  • Complete artwork ID tag at delivery.


WET PAINT SALE 

  • The Wet Paint Sale will take place at CTAC - Petoskey on Thursday, July 31, 4 pm - 7 pm, preceding the film screening of Two Hearted Ale
  • All works must be clearly labeled with artist name, title, and price.
  • Artists are responsible for pricing all artwork. 
  • All sales are split commission, with 60% going to the artist and 40% retained by CTAC.
  • Artists must pick up unsold artwork on Thursday, July 31, at 7:00 pm. 


ARTIST AWARDS 

  • An independent juror will award prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
  • Awards are as follows: First Place: $500, Second Place: $300, and Third Place: $200.
Eligibility
  • Painters aged 16 and up.
  • Must be US residents. 
  • All painting media are eligible (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, oil, etc.).
