Higher Art Gallery is excited to announce an Open Call for:

"Great Bodies"
This is an exhibit dedicated to celebrating the Great Lakes and inland Lakes, streams and rivers which make our region so special. 

RESISTANCE + SUPPORT + ART FOR OUR MARGINALIZED NEIGHBORS

Higher Art Gallery welcomes visual Artists in all mediums who feel the call to practice resistance in the form of making Art to submit one piece for consideration.

What is "Always Here" about?

"Always Here" is an exhibit and means to allow free expression, show & raise support for those facing increasing marginalization & whose very human rights are in jeopardy.

Calling all artists to submit an original work of art or image for the 2025 Festival. The selected work will be featured on the poster, program cover, and other collateral materials related to the 2025 Festival.

The Gene Rantz Plein Air Paint Out is open to all artists. Entry is not juried. Painting A minimum of 95% of each painting must be created on-site, in the true spirit of Plein Air Painting. Minor adjustments or corrections may only be done in a studio to fix forms or colors. Artwork media: may include oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel and gouache. Submissions per artist: Up to three (3) pieces of artwork can be submitted each day. Plus 1 for Golden Hour

About Frankfort48 film contest

To participate in the annual Frankfort48 Film Contest, aspiring filmmakers are asked to create a 3-to-5 minute film celebrating the beauty and unique character of Northern Michigan, using three specific storyline components, which are revealed to the filmmakers at the start of the contest. Participating filmmakers then have 48 hours to conceive their ideas, scout locations, film, edit, and present their mini-masterpieces. Following the film showings, a panel of judges selects the top three films.
