Boyne Art Center Request for Proposals - Art Piece
Boyne Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in downtown Boyne City with a mission to inspire, serve, and strengthen the community through the arts.
The intent of this proposal is to solicit local/regional artists to respond to the Request for Proposal (RFP) with a detailed design image and supplemental information as described below. The selected artist will be recognized with a plaque or small sign; please include the preferred layout and design for this recognition in the proposal. Individuals or a group of artists may apply to this RFP. It is not mandatory, but it is recommended that interested artists visit the BAC to familiarize themselves with the proposed area(s) and the overall layout of the campus.
Location
There are three options for the installation location:
- Exterior - In the Water Street courtyard at 211 Water Street. This area is approximately 240 square feet. The donor recognition art may be wall-mounted or freestanding in the courtyard. In the future, a small table and chairs, sculpture, and plantings may be added to the space. Electrical will be available to illuminate the area at night.
- Interior - Inside the gallery, in the side window on the east side of the building, facing the parking lot. Window dimensions are 66 ½” w x 50” h.
- Interior - Inside the gallery, as a free-standing piece.
Timeline
- RFP released to the public: April 20th, 2026
- Deadline to Submit a Proposal: May 26, 2026
- Selection of Design: on or before June 15, 2026
- Art installation must be completed by September 7, 2026
- We will unveil the donor recognition art piece at the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of our new location in October [date TBA].
Specifications
- For interior free-standing proposals: Must be moveable, with a maximum height of 8’, and a maximum width of 3’, plus base.For exterior proposals: Must be constructed from materials that can easily withstand the elements outdoors, with minimal maintenance, repair, and/or cleaning required over a 10-year period.
- Donor recognition - artistic named plates/engravings/objects: Must be easy and cost-affordable to add names to the piece/installation. There will be approximately 50 - 100 donor names to start; plan for growth as additional names will be added over the years.
Design/Images and Execution of Project
Artists may submit up to three (3) drawings/design images for this project.
Proposal information concerning the design and execution of the project must include the following:
- Sketch or graphic of the artwork, including details and any colors you plan to use in the final piece.
- Complete list of necessary supplies and materials along with a total project cost.
- Detailed explanation of site preparation, construction, installation, and clean-up process, including technique(s) used and a timeline for completion of the artwork within the 12-week time frame.
- Specifications for the plaque or sign acknowledging the artist(s).
- If special tools, equipment, or machinery are required for construction and/or installation that may need to be rented, please include a list of those items and how long you expect to need them.
Review of RFP Responses
BAC will review the RFP responses and will select the individual artist or group by June 15, 2026. BAC reserves the right to reject all proposal submissions.
