Welcome to the 9th annual Northport Photo Exhibit! Photo Exhibit Team Linda Bayer • Walter Farrell • Esther Send • Tim Wade • Sheen Watkins
The team provides countless hours planning, preparing and presenting this event. The NAA is very grateful for the many volunteers that help throughout this event to make it a success! Photo Exhibit Awards Photography will be judged on the following criteria for each category:
Impact - The emotional response the image evokes upon first viewing. Compelling images can elicit feelings such as joy, sadness, or wonder, making them memorable
Technical expertise - Quality of the photograph regardless of the subject. Judges assess whether the image is sharp, well-exposed, and uses light effectively to highlight the subject. This encompasses various technical aspects, including focus, exposure, and lighting. Intensity of light, quantity of light, direction of light, and quality of light. No over saturation.
Composition – Rule of thirds - Balance images - Work with leading lines - Focus - Depth of field The arrangement of elements within the frame is crucial. Effective composition guides the viewer's eye and enhances the overall aesthetic of the image. Techniques such as the rule of thirds, leading lines, and balance are evaluated.
Creativity and Style - Judges look for originality in the photographer's approach and how effectively they convey their message through their unique style - Story it tells. This includes the use of innovative techniques and the ability to present familiar subjects in new ways.
Presentation: The way an image is presented can affect its overall impact. This includes the use of and condition of mats, frames, and the overall finish of the print, which should enhance rather than distract from the image itself

Photography must be dropped off and picked up during these times!
Exhibit: Opening Reception, Saturday, May 23, 5-7pm Gallery Exhibit May 24 - June 14, 12-4pm
