MCACA Grants Due Tuesday, 6/1, 5pm

Final reminder that all grant applications to Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs for Operational Support, Project Support, Capital Improvements, Arts in Education and Rising Leaders are due on Tuesday, 6/1, by 5pm EDT via mcaca.smartsimple.com. Traverse City Arts Commission is accepting artist proposals for the Art on the TART 10th Street Trailhead project. Installation is planned for September 2021 with a $10,000 stipend. Information and application HERE.

Join Arts Midwest 6/10 for its final Gather Round series talk, dedicated to advancing sustainable resilience and recovery for historically under-resourced communities, organizations and leaders. Info Here


This week, Gov. Whitmer announced updates to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (MIOSHA) COVID-19 emergency rules as well as update to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) COVID-19  Gatherings  and  Face Masks  epidemic order, eliminating outdoor capacity limits and increasing indoor social gatherings to 50% capacity. The epidemic order is set to take effect 6/1. As of 7/1, all broad epidemic orders will be lifted. Link for info.

  • Summit presenter Eric Hemenway who was reappointed to the Michigan Historical Commission 
  • Maddie Saucedo who joins Interlochen Center for the Arts

And to all NW Michigan artists & arts & cultural organizations for navigating the past 15 pandemic months with creativity, flexibility, grace & resiliency in spite of the hardest times. Bravo to you!
