Northport Arts Association’s Summer 2021 Exhibitions
The Northport Arts Association (NAA) used its minigrant for several online and gallery exhibits during summer 2021.
Exposures in May featured Leelanau county student artwork, grades 7-12 followed by the Arts of Our Members Exhibit May 28 – July 4. The exhibit supports NAA’s Mission “to foster and promote all artistic expression throughout the community” and Vision “strive to be a valued resource for artists and to engage our community in the greater world of the Arts.” It’s estimated over 200 people came to the exhibit.
NAA’s annual Plein Air Paint Out welcomed 38 Michigan artists to Northport in July to paint throughout the tip of Leelanau Peninsula. Artists look forward to this yearly event and enjoy collaborating and selling their work. The event welcomed over 200 guests to the gallery. The exhibit was also online, which offered more benefit to the artists and patrons.
The Starry Night Exhibit was held August 13-21 featuring artwork from 20 artists in the gallery and online. The Starry Night exhibit celebrates the night skies in Leelanau County and helps to create awareness of preserving the beauty without the interference of artificial lights.
The Northport Photo Exhibition was held September 3-19 and featured photos from 17 photographers in the gallery and online. The Photo Exhibit is a favorite for artists, our members and the community as it highlights the local beauty many cherish in Leelanau. The photos are judged and awards are presented to the photographers in several categories. The community gets involved by voting a people’s choice award.
