MG POD: DEI Training at Good Hart Artist Residency
Good Hart Artist Residency used their 2022 POD to contract with nationally recognized artist/speaker, Kayla Kim Votapek, to facilitate an online workshop on anti-racism and implicit bias. The workshop was attended by the Good Hart Board of Directors and its selection committee including volunteer jurors for the 2022-23 open call. A total of twelve people were able to attend. The workshop was successful in increasing jurors’ awareness of implicit bias and its potential impact on selection. The workshop accomplished key goals around equity and diversity which was to provide anti-bias training for jurors and selection committee. The workshop also provided helpful techniques for holding effective review meetings, which have been incorporated into our committee and board meetings going forward. The key points of the workshop were also discussed at board and community advisory meetings.
