Grand Traverse Pavilions: Summer Concerts on the Lawn
Minigrants help support the Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation’s annual summer Concerts on the Lawn free outdoor music series featuring northern Michigan performers. The series ran July through August 2021. Each of the nine scheduled concerts saw crowds of between 1600 to more than 5000 guests. It was extremely evident by the crowds, the generous free-will bucket pass donations, and the heart felt comments, that the community was extremely grateful for the opportunity to come together to support a worthy cause. Grand Traverse Pavilions as the community’s public skilled nursing care provider for aging adults was honored to invite the community to enjoy local Michigan talent with a goal of providing much needed music therapy, not only for the aging residents served by the Pavilions, but for a healing community in a Post-COVID environment. Gratitude was shared among the outstanding community based sponsors for helping to make this year series a great success. Additionally, each of the northern-Michigan based concert performers offered their sincere appreciation and personal pride in being able to provide some much needed “joy” for all who participated live or virtually.
The last concert of the 2021 Concert on the Lawn season served as the Pavilions “Volunteer Appreciation” event where more than 30 volunteers were recognized for their invaluable support to help put on the free concert series, and to those who give their time to support the charitable mission of Grand Traverse Pavilions as a community based care facility. It is undeniable that the Concerts on the Lawn this season had a very special community feel of gratitude, and in that spirit the Pavilions leadership is extremely grateful to the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs for the ongoing support for this free, outdoor multi-generational celebration of community!
