Up North Arts is looking for talented and dedicated volunteers for some specific positions. 

Whether it is an event or greeting guests or helping with art classes, we have many opportunities.

To promote and encourage cultural and educational activities within the Straits Area of Northern Michigan, and to provide services that stimulate and encourage participation and appreciation of the arts within all segments of the community and to showcase the historic Cheboygan Opera House.

We couldn't do all that we do at Art & Connection without the help of our valued volunteers.

JRAC is a proud sponsor of the Music in the Park Summer Concert Series held in the East Jordan Memorial Park Band Shell on Friday evenings at 7:00 PM. This year, we are seeking a few people to help as on-site volunteers. One person is needed for each concert. Duties include greeting the band, obtaining the key from the city hall, opening the bandshell, and locking up after the show. You need not stay for the performance. Are you interested in teaching a class at NAA?

Thank you for your interest in teaching at the Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts. Class offerings are decided by staff and committee. Instructors receive 70% of class registrations and OAC receives 30% - please consider this when pricing your class. In addition, OAC Members receive a $20 discount on all classes.

The National Writers Series of Traverse City is looking for dynamic, experienced, and outgoing teachers for various creative writing classes. Our Raising Writers program offers free creative writing classes to area youth and serves students from fourth through twelfth grade. Raising Writers provides writing classes across many disciplines, including fiction, creative nonfiction, journalism, poetry, playwriting, Moth-style storytelling, improv, and college essay workshops.

The Traverse City Dance Project Internship Program offers college students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of professional dance and gain hands-on experience in both administrative or production roles. Whether you’re passionate about arts administration or production, our program provides valuable insights and practical skills to kickstart your career in the performing arts.

The Great Lakes Center for the Arts (GLCFA) is guided by its mission to inspire, entertain, educate, and serve all in Northern Michigan year-round by presenting exceptional experiences across the full spectrum of the performing arts and offering impactful educational opportunities.

The Center is a 501(c)3 with four paid internship positions available for the summer of 2025 in the capacities below. All interns will work alongside the entire GLCFA team and gain valuable experience in a variety of areas within arts management.

As the Membership & Volunteer Coordinator at Crooked Tree Arts Center-Petoskey, you will play a key role in managing and expanding the membership and volunteer programs.

For more than 20 years, the C.S. Lewis Festival has crafted engaging and educational programming for all ages, brought spectacular speakers and scholars to Petoskey, and explored the fascinating life of C.S. Lewis. The nonprofit eagerly seeks a community-minded individual who loves to connect and collaborate to carry on its established work and build its presence within the regional community.

RESISTANCE + SUPPORT + ART FOR OUR MARGINALIZED NEIGHBORS

Higher Art Gallery welcomes visual Artists in all mediums who feel the call to practice resistance in the form of making Art to submit one piece for consideration.

What is "Always Here" about?

"Always Here" is an exhibit and means to allow free expression, show & raise support for those facing increasing marginalization & whose very human rights are in jeopardy.

This exhibition is being developed in cooperation with the Shoe Club of the East Jordan Middle School. Artists are invited to develop literal and conceptual works relating to the philosophy and mission of the Club, which focuses on instilling motivation, self-worth, compassion, teamwork and thinking beyond ourselves. Calling all artists to submit an original work of art or image for the 2025 Festival. The selected work will be featured on the poster, program cover, and other collateral materials related to the 2025 Festival.

The Gene Rantz Plein Air Paint Out is open to all artists. Entry is not juried. Painting A minimum of 95% of each painting must be created on-site, in the true spirit of Plein Air Painting. Minor adjustments or corrections may only be done in a studio to fix forms or colors. Artwork media: may include oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel and gouache. Submissions per artist: Up to three (3) pieces of artwork can be submitted each day. Plus 1 for Golden Hour
