Up North Arts is looking for talented and dedicated volunteers for some specific positions. 

Whether it is an event or greeting guests or helping with art classes, we have many opportunities.

To promote and encourage cultural and educational activities within the Straits Area of Northern Michigan, and to provide services that stimulate and encourage participation and appreciation of the arts within all segments of the community and to showcase the historic Cheboygan Opera House.

Volunteering is about more than just bringing our vision to life, it’s about building a community of people who care.

Are you interested in teaching a class at NAA?

Thank you for your interest in teaching at the Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts. Class offerings are decided by staff and committee. Instructors receive 70% of class registrations and OAC receives 30% - please consider this when pricing your class. In addition, OAC Members receive a $20 discount on all classes.

Beginning in 2013, this 13 acre sculpture park along the shores of East Grand Traverse Bay has
been the responsibility of Art Rapids in Elk Rapids, Michigan. This non profit organization offers
a contractual, mostly seasonal, coordinators position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the
artistic vision of the park.

Big Water Creative Arts (BWCA) is a Northern Michigan nonprofit sharing the joy of music through weekly classes and performances that bring people together and build confidence. Our programs serve youth, adults, and cognitively impaired students currently in Emmet, Cheboygan, and Otsego counties.

Do you have a fresh idea for bringing creativity to our community?

We’re looking for new teachers to join the Glen Arbor Arts Center in 2026 and share fresh, playful, and bold ideas to inspire creativity in our community!

Our courses teach hands-on skills with a focus on creating a more natural, beautiful, and connected world. They go beyond basics to inspire curiosity, build community, and give students the confidence to keep learning at home.

The IDEAL intern will research our Works Project Administration-era collection of black ash, sweet grass, and quill baskets in preparation for a fall 2026 exhibition.

Great Lakes Center for the Arts is now accepting applications for paid internships. Interns gain hands-on experience in a professional performing arts environment while working alongside a collaborative and supportive team.

Crosshatch Meeting Place + Mercantile is a new community space in downtown Bellaire where art, ecology, and craft meet. We’re seeking artists, farmers, makers, and culture bearers to lead workshops that share skills, stories, and traditions rooted in creativity and connection to the land.

Crooked Tree Arts Center is seeking a full-time Visual Arts Director. Ideal candidates are passionate about
the arts, experienced in exhibition curation and working with artists. Experience in galleries or museums is
preferred.

Beth Price is an editorial and commercial photographer based in Northern Michigan. Here, she draws much inspiration from the color palette and light that change with the seasons, the open landscapes, and the abundant fresh water.

A visual storyteller, she advocates for people, businesses, and causes that deserve attention. Her images are authentic, purposeful, thoughtful, and connective. She’s passionate about the Great Lakes region and is dedicated to ensuring its protection for generations to come. Beth’s career goal is simple: to forge lasting relationships with clients who share her passion for the outdoors and natural environment and to create dynamic imagery that transports the viewer.

Here:Say Storytelling is a Traverse City-based live storytelling show featuring true, first-person stories told on stage by performers of all backgrounds and experience level. We accept pitches for both regular-season shows and the occasional popup shows we produce on behalf of other organizations.

ClaySpaceTC is looking for ceramic artists to present a two day workshop. The goal is to provide our students and the community with a unique ceramic experience.

JRAC invites artists of every discipline to submit work for H2O, a multimedia exhibition exploring water in its many forms: rivers, lakes, oceans, rain, ice, steam—and its symbolic meanings such as mystery, stillness, and renewal. We welcome painting, sculpture, photography, fiber, and more. Help us create an immersive experience that celebrates water’s beauty, significance, and presence in our lives.

Up North Arts Inc. invites you to apply for the 58th Annual Phyllis Olson Art Fair, held  in Cadillac, Michigan, July 17 and 18, 2026 on Lake Cadillac. The Art Fair includes approximately 100 artists’ booths.  We welcome all artists who exhibit art of original concept, design and execution. Artists are juried to ensure the highest standards for both the artists and for the viewing public.
