The Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts in Frankfort, MI, has an immediate need for a highly
motivated and creative arts administrator to lead its continued growth. The position of Executive Director
offers a unique opportunity to have a tangible impact on the creative and educational culture of
Northwestern Michigan, and to experiment with new programs, exhibitions and events. Frankfort is a
charming and open-minded community with a highly motivated base of Art Center members and
supporters, as well as an above-average number of working artists and artisans.
The Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts occupies a fully renovated, award-winning, LEED
Platinum certified former US Coast Guard building on the shore of Betsie Bay at the juncture to Lake
Michigan. The stunning, 10,000-plus square foot facility features three large classrooms with lake views,
a full clay studio, large exhibition areas, a culinary arts kitchen and gift shop, as well as very comfortable
administrative spaces. The Art Center is open seven days per week all year long and hosts 70 classes, 10-
12 exhibitions, dozens of free events, and varied programming year-round. This programming builds on a
long history dating back to 1948, when the Art Center was founded. Candidates are strongly encouraged

Frankfort’s location and culture are both truly exceptional. Nestled on Betsie Bay and Lake Michigan,
Frankfort has arguably the best beaches, hiking and biking trails, fishing, surfing, and cross-country and
downhill skiing to be found anywhere in the Midwest. The city, like all of NW Michigan, is known for
the civic engagement of its permanent and seasonal communities. The warm and welcoming culture can
be felt at the area’s countless public festivals and events. Nearby Interlochen Center for the Arts is
approximately 25 minutes away by car; Traverse City is approximately 35 minutes away, as is Sleeping
Bear Sand Dunes Lakeshore and the many vineyards and charming towns of Grand Traverse and
Leelanau Counties. In addition to all of this, Frankfort has excellent local schools with strong athletic and
arts programs, diverse shopping and dining making it an exceptional place to work, live and grow.
Compensation will be determined based on candidate’s experience and is regionally competitive within
the range of $40,000-$50,000. Benefit package includes: monthly stipend for medical benefits, paid sick
leave, paid vacation days, and paid holidays.
