Job Title: Associate Director, Benzie Area Historical Society

Job Description: The Associate Director is responsible and accountable to the Executive Director for the effective and efficient day-to-day operation of the Benzie Area Historical Museum and Drake School.

About the Role: You will help distinguish the Benzie Area Historical Society with professionalism, best practices and actions that build donor and community loyalty.  Among the responsibilities of the role are:

  • Museum Operations Management: You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Museum and Drake School and provide support to the Board of Directors and Board committee members.
  • Records Management: You will maintain computer-based and other records including the museum’s collections, volunteer, donor, archival records.
  • Communications and Donor Relations: You will work with and support the Executive Director and assigned volunteers to develop and implement strategies around public and donor communications, marketing, website, social media and two
  • Programs and Events Management: Together with volunteers and the Executive Director, you will assist with planning and coordinating Museum programs and events, including registrations, facilities, presenters, volunteers, tours and other event

About You: The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum two years’ related experience; nonprofit experience a plus. Bachelor’s degree in museum science or business management preferred. • Knowledge and experience with fundraising and museum software is a bonus.
  • Desire to learn and become proficient with new technology platforms. Local or general history knowledge is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a public setting with visitors, patrons, and community members and organizations.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
