Shanna Robinson – Artist: Artist in Residence Presentation

Boyne City artist Shanna Robinson’s Glen Arbor Arts Center residency is an exploration of two familiar materials that don’t usually go together: clay and fiber, woven. Robinson talks about her reasons why, and how she brings both together in this during a public presentation on October 2, 10 am at the Glen Arbor Arts Center. The talk is open to the public at no charge.

“My goal for this residency is to explore opportunities to connect two bodies of knowledge, fibers and ceramics,” Robinson said. “I plan to pursue two approaches to connecting these materials. The first is to delve into the possibility of ceramic forms as looms, or less formally, structures that can act as supports for weaving. The second is to make a series of smallish clay pieces that can be woven into my fiber work adding texture and sound.”

The GAAC has been hosting visiting artmakers as part of its residency program since the 1990s.
