For more than 40 years Jerry Dennis has explored and written about rivers and lakes on three continents, but no waters have enamored him more than those of northern Michigan, his home for most of his life.
Jerry Dennis's many books, including Up North in Michigan, The Living Great Lakes, and A Place on the Water, have earned wide acclaim and have been translated into seven languages. His essays, stories, and poems have appeared in publications as varied as The New York Times, Michigan Quarterly Review, New World Writing, and Smithsonian. He lives on Old Mission Peninsula, near Traverse City.
