Lost Leviathans: The Six Biggest Ships Still Missing on Lake Michigan

Many large ships have been lost on the Great Lakes, but the vast majority have been located by wreck hunters and divers. Several major vessels however, remain undiscovered despite their massive size. Join marine historian Brendon Baillod as he tells the story of the five biggest ships that remain lost on Lake Michigan. Brendon will explore what we know about the final hours of each of these titans of the Lakes and will discuss where each of them probably lies and why each hasn't been located yet. Brendon Baillod is an award winning maritime historian, author and antiquarian based in Wisconsin. He is the current president of the Wisconsin Underwater Archeology Association and has located several historic shipwrecks on the Great Lakes. Brendon has the largest private collection of antiquarian Great Lakes books, maps, photos and ephemera on the Lakes and is the author of Fathoms Deep but not Forgotten: Wisconsin's Lost Ships, a compendium of over 300 vessels lost in Wisconsin waters. He is also the author of Ghosts of the Oceana Coast: Shipwrecks of Pentwater, Michigan, which will be released this month. Brendon has appeared on the National Geographic Channel, the History Channel, the Science Channel and the Travel Channel discussing Great Lakes shipwrecks and is the administrator of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Research Group on social media, which has over 5000 members.
