Chamberfest: George Fu & Liv Redpath

Soprano Liv Redpath, praised for her radiant voice and exceptional coloratura, is quickly gaining recognition worldwide in both opera and symphonic performances. In 2023/24, she debuted at the Royal Opera House and Staatsoper Hamburg, as well as The Metropolitan Opera. She also appeared at Santa Fe Opera and collaborated with major orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Cleveland Orchestra, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. A versatile performer, Redpath’s repertoire spans from opera to chamber music and beyond. Her 2022/23 season included prominent roles in productions of Lucia di Lammermoor, Hamlet, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Chinese-American pianist George Xiaoyuan Fu, celebrated for his “stunning virtuosity” (Boston Music Intelligencer) and “phenomenal technique,” (Apple Music) is gaining international recognition for his fearless interpretations across a wide range of music. Recently awarded BBC Music Magazine’s 2024 Newcomer Award, he has performed at renowned venues like Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, and Konzerthaus Berlin. Fu’s debut album MIRRORS received widespread acclaim, and his second solo album Colouring Book will be released in spring 2025. A frequent soloist and chamber musician, he is also a founding member of Trio Zimbalist and has collaborated with many renowned artists.

Their program at the Opera House will include a selection of songs by 19th-century Romantic composers Debussy, Grieg, Schubert, Strauss and Wolf.
