Alluvion Arts @414 presents a one-night only performance that integrates visual and performance art in a way you’ve never seen before. In a partnership with Up North Pride, this event kicks off Pride Week on September 26th with an evening focused on dismantling the patriarchy to make room for free expression. Inspired by the work of visual artist Winnie van der Rijn, and in collaboration with painter and award winning dancer-choreographer Peter Sparling. Assisted by five professional dancers from NW Michigan, Sparling conducts a lecture-demonstration that removes van der Rijn’s wearable art from the wall and replaces them with Sparling’s rainbow-colored vestments, banners and murals. Part TED Talk, part catwalk, part improv jam, the performance features dancers Katie Dorn & Leslie Williams, (Interlochen), Finley VanPatten (Crooked Tree/Petoskey), Ben Cheney (Croft Residency/Horton Bay) and Yali Rivlin (Manistee). Double bass player Paul Erhard provides musical commentary.
