Tom Kaufmann
Tom Kaufmann is a musician, sculptor, and edutainer. For the past 20 years, he has appeared in the Beacon Lounge at the Top of the Park Place Hotel, and previously was the Entertainment Director for the Grand Traverse Resort, where he performed with his band, and as a soloist. He is also well known for the personalized musical wire sculptures he creates, which he calls “ Your Name Rings a Bell”. His music education program, “Tinkertunes” has given thousands of children an opportunity to learn about the science of sound through music, and his “Traveling Musical Instrument Petting Zoo” has visited schools, libraries, and museums throughout the state. His 2013 ArtPrize entry “KinderBells” sculpture, made from recycled oxygen tanks, was purchased by the City of Caddilac, and is in a park there. He has been commissioned by the Friendly Garden Club for a set of the bells for the new Sensory Gardens at the Historic Barns. His 2014 entry “ Music-Go-Round” was purchased by Ripley’s Museums.
